Christensen

This had to be one of my favorite reads this semester. We are living in a time where the kids in elementary school middle and even high school don't remember a time before the internet and social media. Their thoughts and actions are influenced by what they see and hear, from anything. Social media, TV, family, friends, teachers, etc.

I was curious to see what people had to say about media and their kids so I typed in Google "Shows that are bad for kids" because I was curious to see what people thought and why. I came across an article on The Richest. I was so surprised to see the first show listed was Caillou! I use to watch that when I was a kid! Apparently, he is very bratty and throws a lot of temper tantrums and the parents on the show give into him easily. Parents are worried that this will teach their kids the bad habits of doing the same.

The second one was Ninja Turtles. I have to disagree with this one. Parents are worried about the crime fighting and indulging in pizza. If they weren't turtles I'd be more worried.

They go on to list Bambi, Tom and Jerry, Richie Rich, Pokemon, Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo, Dragon Ball (I didn't know this was considered a kids show...) and lastly, at number 1, the little mermaid. Wow. Even popular Disney isn't safe.

I looked at other articles and it honestly goes on and on. All of them listened to different things and no one was safe. I wonder if there is a point where kids need to be exposed to some things, although in moderation. They can't be left in the dark forever on certain subjects. Like with Bambi, the website listed it because the mother dies. But isn't that life? Don't kids need to know that things like that happen? Disney is full of dead parents.
